Engineering utilities

Calculators that show their work.

Most online engineering tools hand you a number and hide how they got there. Some of them are simply wrong. Ours print the formula, the coefficients and the standard on the same page as the answer — so you can check us instead of trusting us.

Glass & glazing

All glass tools →

Built with people who have spent twenty years inside glass shops — not scraped from other websites. They chain together: work out the wind, carry it into the thickness check, then print the lot for the client.

The principle

If we can't show you the working, we haven't finished the tool.

Every result carries the line of coefficients it came from. Every page has a worked example you can check by hand, and a section listing what the tool does not cover. When we approximate, we say where and which way the error goes.

That last part is not modesty. A calculator that pretends to cover everything is the dangerous kind — and there are plenty of those, including one currently in Google's top three telling people that a glass pane's weight determines its wind resistance.

σ = β · q · b² / t² // bending, short span b w = α · q · b⁴ / D // deflection at the centre D = E · t³ / (12(1 − ν²)) // E = 70 000, ν = 0.23 r = a/b = 1.833 → α = 0.00945, β = 0.5762 q = 1.20 kN/m², t = 10 mm tempered σ = 9.96 N/mm² limit 87.5 // 11 % used w = 3.82 mm limit 18.46 // 21 % used

It runs on your machine

Not because it is fashionable, but because your project dimensions are none of our business. There is no server holding your data because there is no server.

Free, and no account

No sign-up wall, no trial, no email for a PDF. When there is something worth paying for it will be obvious what it is, and it will not be the calculator.

Wrong is worse than missing

Where a figure depends on your National Annex, your wind map or a test report, we ask you for it rather than invent it. A confident wrong number costs more than an honest gap.

Start with the wind, end with the PDF.

The five calculators chain together, and the last one turns the lot into the document your client signs off.
